Adjusting and Fitting
Standard duty (silver or gold spring) clutches
- Compress the springs fully, then back off 2 turns.
- Fine tune so the clutch slips occasionally.
- Once a year, release the springs completely and let the clutch slip to polish the pressure plate.
- Re-tension clamp bolts after 10 hours of use, then every 100 hours.
Blue Torque heavy duty clutches
- Basic spring length: 28.6 mm (1 1/8″) for 6″ (150 mm) clutches, 31.75 mm (1 1/4″) for 8″ (200 mm) clutches.
- Adjust so the clutch slips on overload.
- At 6 months, back off the springs to polish the discs.
- Re-tension clamp bolts after 8 hours of use, then every 40 hours.
